A Successful Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) "Wine Logistics"

We are pleased to share the highlights of BIP 25_26, a collaborative educational project that brought together students and staff from four partner institutions across Europe:

  • IUT Chalon-sur-Saône – Université de Bourgogne Europe (France)
  • Breda University of Applied Sciences (The Netherlands)
  • Pomeranian University in Słupsk (Poland)
  • UCL University College (Denmark)

In total, 40 students and about 10 staff members participated in this programme, reflecting a strong commitment to international collaboration in logistics education.

About the Programme
The BIP OptiLog centred around an interactive e-learning course providing students with structured, flexible training in logistics process optimisation. The curriculum covered process automation, data-driven decision-making, inventory and warehouse management, route planning, and sustainable logistics practices.

Learning was supported through video tutorials, quizzes, case studies, simulations, and gamification elements designed to enhance engagement and knowledge retention.

How It Unfolded
The programme began in January with an online phase in which student teams explored major wine regions of the world, combining subject exploration with teambuilding. In February, participants conducted comparative studies of wine legislation across countries and developed a creative advertisement concept for a fictional wine brand — which was subsequently filmed on location in Chalon in March.

The programme concluded with an on-site week in Chalon-sur-Saône in early March, bringing all participants together for oral presentations, keynote lectures, and case studies. The week also included a winery visit, a cultural excursion to Dijon, and a closing dinner.

Looking Ahead
BIP 25_26 has been a valuable experience in cross-border collaboration and applied logistics education. It is hoped that one of the partner institutions will host the next edition of this Blended Intensive Programme for a future cohort of students.
